BILL SEEKING TO ESTABLISH IKOM POLY PASSES 2ND READING

By Eba Alobo

A bill for an act seeking to establish a federal Polytechnic in Ikom passed through second reading today at the upper legislative chamber.
The bill sponsored by the senator representing Central Senatorial district, Sen. John Owan Enoh seeks to bring closer to his constituents quality and affordable education. The institution when established will equally provide job opportunities to the teeming youths of the zone in particular and the nation at large.
According to the sponsor, the bill is a fulfillment of one of his mandate to ensure that the people of his constituency are given quality education and deliver the dividends of democracy. According to him  "This is in fulfilment of my campaign promises to my constituents to bring a platform for quality and affordable Education closer to my people"
Recall that the senator who many describe as a 'firm believer in education as a tool for desired change' has numerous educational schemes to his credit. This include award of scholarships to students of his constituency both at higher, and lower level of education as well as Jambites, ICT trainings and empowerment with laptops as well as other numerous educational interventions-a feat that earned him the title "Talk and Do" senator among his admirers. To others he is seen as a politician who doesn't play politics with his people.
